The Cardiac Anesthesia Department provides a wide range of anesthesia/sedation services for the patients of Heart Hospital. We treat and care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic operations during and after surgical procedures. We also provide anesthetic back up and sedation to patients undergoing angioplasties and other catheterization laboratory procedures.
Our team is an integral part of Heart Hospital’s wider services; we are a part of the cardiothoracic team. We work closely with the Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology departments and we interact with the departments of radiology, nephrology and pharmacy. Our collaborative structure allows us to give the best possible level of care to our patients.
Our services include:
- Evaluation of surgical patients
- Peri-operative and post-operative care of surgical patients
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Anesthetic services for catheterization laboratory procedures
- Pain and palliative care
- Cardiothoracic intensive care
- Ventilatory care; we specialize in the ventilatory care of all patients including those on long-term ventilation
